This week, we discussed a topic that was spawned by a “simple” question: Do we need a black leader? As black people in America, is it still something that we are in need of to progress? With the election cycle coming up, many politicians seem to position themselves as our “black leader” and we seemingly jump on board and invariably get duped. Is that because we don’t have a legitimate black leader and are in need of one? Or is it because we are so starved for a black leader, people find it easy to take advantage of that need? We mostly disagreed with how we felt on this, but we both tried to lay out our cases as to why we felt we did or did not need a centralized black leadership.
